Early spring and fall are the best time to climb the highest peak of Pelješac, St. Ilia, from which you can see Italy when the bora blows. Because of its height and secludedness, it is one of the widest and most beautiful viewpoints in Croatia. Once on top, people realize how small they are in comparison with the magnificent nature and are thankful for being a part of it. St. Ilia’s peak is full of endemic species, medicinal plants and herbs, and especially wild orchids, which bloom in May and June. The easiest path starts from Nakovana and it will take you 2.5 hours to reach the peak. Sign the guestbook at the peak marked with a wooden cross and an inscribed marble slab, and enjoy the heavenly view.
